Top 7 Methods to Resolve QuickBooks Point of Sale Desktop Error

  • Reboot the computer and launch QuickBooks again.
  • Reboot server and workstation, not just the workstation.

Check system hardware requirement with QuickBooks system requirement for point of sale and upgrade if necessary.

  • Switch on and off the multi user mode on the server.
  • On the server go to settings and select file—switch company file to single user mode and select OK.
  • Then reverse the process by choosing file—switch company file to multi user mode and click OK.

  • Launch windows explorer and go to C:\Program Data\Intuit\Entitlement Client\v8.
  • Press Control+A keys together to select all files and then press delete and then press Yes to confirm.
  • Relaunch QuickBooks

  • Go to windows explorer and activate “display hidden files and folders on your C drive.
  • Go to C:\Program Data\Intuit\ QuickBooks Point of Sale XX\Ini and right click on WSActivity and select rename and rename the file.

  • Press windows key and R and run command line in which you type in “control” and then click on open. Your control panel opens.

  • Select the port, then next and enter pot number and then click on next.
  • Select allow connection and click on next
  • Give the rule a name and flick finish.
  • Create an outbound rule in the same way. 
There is a more complicated way to resolve the situation by editing the Windows hosts file but this could be difficult so it is best left to experts.
