C;ProgramFiles\Intuit\QuickBooksPro\qbw32.exe this application has requested the run time to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application’s support team for more information”.

This type of error can show up when you are carrying out payroll set up, emailing pay stubs or running a payroll checkup.  The cause is a conflict between programs.

You can try various approaches to resolve this issue and get back to work.

Approach 1
If this happened when you were carrying out payroll set up then you can do this:
  • Start Windows, press Start-Run and in the search box type msconfig and press OK
  • Click on the general tab in the system configuration utility and choose selective startup and then clear the load startup items check box. Press OK.
  • Restart computer
  • Run QuickBooks desktop and complete payroll setup.
  • Go back to Windows, start-run-msconfig and in selective startup check the load startup items box to return the computer to normal startup mode. 
Approach 2
If the issue still persists you may have to uninstall QuickBooks desktop and then re-install it.
  • As stated above Press Start button and type in msconfig and click on OK and  then
  • Choose selective startup and load system services, go to the services tab and select Hide all Microsoft services.
  • Select disable all button below
  • Click on the checkbox next to Hide all Microsoft services.
  • Check the list of services and enable Windows Installer and then click on OK
  • Restart the computer.
  • Now reinstall QuickBooks.
  • Once QuickBooks is working OK go back to msconfig and enable normal startup and restart the computer. 
QuickBooks clean install
  • Start control panel in Windows and from Programs and Features select QuickBooks and click on uninstall and follow the process.
  • You can also download and run QuickBooks clean install tool.

Before you do that you must rename QuickBooks installation folders which you do this way:
Run Windows Explorer and change settings to display hidden files and folders. Find QuickBooks folders which should be as follows:

  • C:\ProgramData\Intuit\QuickBooks (year)
  • C:\Users\(current user)\AppData\Local\Intuit\QuickBooks (year)
  • C:\Program Files\Intuit\QuickBooks(year)
  • 64-bit version C:\Program Files (x86)\Intuit\QuickBooks (year)

If you encounter an error when trying to rename files then

  • Press alt+del+control keys which open up Task Manager
  • Click Process table and click Image Name column header and then
  • Navigate to QBDBMgrN.exe, QBDBMgr.exe, QBCFMonitorService.exe, Qbw32.exe and click on end process by selecting each
  • Click on Yes to the warning message. 

You can now proceed with a fresh install of QuickBooks and this should resolve the runtime problem.
